April Birthday Calendar Page with A Little Birdie Told Me

This adorable umbrella is from A Little Birdie Told Me stamp set.  It is one of my top favorites from the Stampin' Up!® Spring-Summer Collection 2008.

My friend (thanks Wendy!) suggested to add a sun peeking out from behind the umbrella.  The solid circle is from Sweet Shapes stamp set.  The promise of sunshine is wonderful on all those rainy April days.

I stamped the umbrellas in Basic Gray Classic Ink and colored them in with Barely Banana, Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery Stampin' Write Markers.

March Page of Birthday Perpetual Calendar

Seeing Spots stamp set made this adorable March page.

Pinch Proof was not yet available when I designed the for my Perpetual Birthday Calendar Class, but I was able to "go green" using Seeing Spots with Gable Green, Green Galore and Glorious Green Classic Pads all from the Bold Brights family.

February Perpetual Calendar Page

All Through the Year was used on the February calendar page as well as January's.  This time I added the heart from A to Z Accents.  Both hearts have the shabby chic look and coordinated so beautifully.

The heart from All Through the Year is first inked up in Purely Pomegranate Classic Ink, stamped off once, and then stamped on the calendar page.  The heart from A to Z Accents was stamped in full strength Purely Pomegranate (one of the fabulous In Colors).  The stamping off technique allows me to have different shades of the same color.

I then used the Stipple Brush with Purely Pomegranate Classic Ink to fill in the white area.  I love the Stipple Brushes for a softer sponged look.  I probably would have been too heavy handed with the dark Purely Pomegranate and not achieved the soft color.

January Page of Perpetual Birthday Calendar

All Through the Year made quick work of the "cool" January page.  After I stamped the snowflakes in Ballet Blue Classic Ink, I simply masked off the numbered lines and sponged with the Ballet Blue Classic Ink.

Let me share with you my latest discovery.  The Dotto Adhesive had, until recently, pretty much just sat on my shelf.  Not anymore!  Not only do I love it when designing my stamping projects (I can move card stock layers over and over again), but it has become a must-have for masking.  I had always used the 2-Way Glue Pen for masking.  With the Dotto Adhesive there is no drying time! Being able to move on quickly is wonderful.

Using the Dotto Adhesive just once turns you into a fan.

Stampin' Up!® Perpetual Birthday Calendar

Pictured here is the cover page of the Birthday Calendar from my Perpetual Birthday Calendar Class.

The cover was a blast to stamp!  Big Birthday Candle in the Spring/Summer Collection 2008 would have been perfect.  But, it was impossible to order the new stamp set in time for my class (Jan. 4).  So, necessity is the mother of invention.  I looked through the Spring/Summer Collection for a stamp that could be used as a flame.  Pick a Petal was perfect for a large flame and the front of my perpetual calendar.

The candle was created from rubber scraps I had saved to allow others to discover the ease the wonderful Craft & Rubber Scissors cut through the stamp rubber.  The Craft & Rubber Scissors are the Cadillac of scissors.  If you have not yet purchased them, do not wait another moment!

I then mounted the long scrap piece of rubber to the wood block my sweet husband cut for me.  It worked in a pinch but certainly makes one appreciate the quality of Stampin' Up!s wood block mounts!

After the flame was stamped, I simply filled in the outline image with a sponge dauber.  I then used the Only Orange and Brilliant Blue Stampin' Write Markers from the Many Marvelous Markers to indicate heat at the bottom of the flame.

Serene Sunflower - End of the Promise

Today is the last day of my promise to post a retiring sample each day for most of the past month.  Hope you have enjoyed seeing something new each time you visited.

The Serene Sunflower card to the left is from my January Card Buffet class today.  Everyone was welcome to stamp one to five of each of the five designs.  They were also welcomed to my stash of greeting stamps to fit the occasion wanted. 

We had a great time.  Many went home ready for the new year of card giving.
