Super Simple Tip to Maintain a Clean Stamp Pad

Remember this Beautiful Branches card with the Stampin' Up! Beautiful Branches with Custom Color Glimmer Paperpretty custom color Glimmer Paper? Well, it left glitter on my ink pad. Today I’m sharing with you a super simple tip to maintain a clean stamp pad after getting glitter all over it.

After using my Sponge Brayer to ink Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper I noticed my Melon Mambo ink pad was sparkly too.

Inking Sponge Brayer

Glitter on Stamp Pad

While pretty, not good for getting a well stamped image. The sparkles could create tiny uninked areas, especially noticeable on a solid stamped image.

The fix is super easy. Press a piece of packing tape onto your ink pad.

Press packing tape onto ink pad

And then remove. Click on the picture below to see how well the tape removed the glitter.

Pad clean of glitter

Clean as a whistle where the tape was pressed on and removed. I used a new piece of packing tape for the rest of the pad because that tape was full of glitter and ink.

Do your Framelits Dies look like this?

When you open the envelope holding your Framelits and Thinlits Dies, are they loose and at the bottom of the insert?

Framelits OrganizationIf so, you know how you have to search for the die you want and how easy it is for one to slip off the side and get lost or misplaced.

The good news is there is an easy and inexpensive way to organize your thin metal dies by using magnetic sheets.

Magnetic Vent Covers

I purchased Accord Magnetic Vent Covers. There are three 8″ x 15″ magnetic sheets in a package for only $4.97. You’ll be able to organize many sets of your Framelits and Thinlits Dies for under $5.
The Accord Magnetic Covers are thin enough to cut to size with the Stampin’ Trimmer, yet strong enough to hold the thin metal dies in place.
Cutting magnetic sheets with Stampin' Trimmer
Trim to the size you need. For my Large Numbers Framelits Dies I cut to 6″ x 6-1/4″. You’ll find you can use smaller, leftover pieces for sets with only a few dies.

Oh, this looks so much better! An added bonus is you have a place to set your die immediately after using it that will reduce the chances of losing one.

Framelits on magnetic sheet

Accord Magnetic Vent Covers are available to order on Amazon for only $4.97. Click here see them.

. . .bought the magnetic register covers. I thought, “wow what a neat idea”.   So, I ordered them from Amazon.   Received them yesterday. Holy smokes, artichokes.   Phenomenal.   I did all my thinlets etc.  So organized.   Especially with the new Botanicals.  Has a lot of dies.   Love it.  Thanks for such a great idea!!!      – Xo  Faith

Handmade Thank You Greeting Card Stamped with the Stampin’ Up! Gently Falling Stamp Set

It's Thanksgiving and my Gently Falling handmade card expresses one of the things I am grateful for – you!  I appreciate all the sweet comments from my readers about my handmade projects and on my blog overall.   In case you are wondering, I never tire of compliments.  🙂

Oval_Framed_Leaves

Want to see how I made this handmade greeting card?  Watch my video demonstration to see the Sizzix Big Shot in action and my head accidentally getting into the shot.   See if you can tell if I was having a good or bad hair day.

What do you think of the color combination from the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper:  Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede, More Mustard, River Rock and Very Vanilla?

Spice Cake Colors-001

At first I didn't think Pool Party felt much like Autumn.  After all, the name screams summer.  But, once I started playing with it, the color combination was flattering.  It was also fun to throw in a color or two you don't associate with a season.  Pool Party would have never occurred to me for an Autumn card.  Sure glad Stampin' Up! expanded my own self-imposed color limitations by using Pool Party for the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper!   Maybe I'll get more adventuresome in my color combinations . . .

Have you ever stamped on background paper?  I've done so using it a couple of different ways.  You just say one way on my card and in the video demonstration – stamped and then cut out.

I have stamped on background paper, added a layer and used it as is.  It was a cute card.

Also, I have added a few stamped images and used the background paper as, well, background paper.  I guess I made my own customized background paper.

The Spice Cake Designer Series Paper and Gently Falling stamp set are both from the 2011 Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini Catalog and available to order for a limited time.  Will we see the Gently Falling stamp set in the 2012-2013 Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog.  Possibly.  We never know.  So, if you like the stamp set, don't take a chance.  Be sure to order it before January.

But, without a doubt, the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper will not be seen in any future catalogs.  How can I make such a bold prediction?  The pretty background paper has Pear Pizzazz as on of the colors.  Pear Pizzazz is a 2010-2012 In Color.  It will be retiring on June 30, 2012.   If I'm wrong about it not being in the next Idea Book I will eat of a sheet of it.  Not really.
