Now the challenge was how to finish the card. Layering in a bright red didn’t feel very springy. Black and red is classy and with the black stamped outline, it coordinated while providing a nice contrast to the red. Still wanting to keep red to a minimum, adding a layer of newsprint from the Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper was perfect! Could have gone with a Basic Black card base, but don’t you think the Real Red looks great?
A last minute added touch was to tear the newspaper print and add a small layer of Basic Black Cardstock. Looking good.
What you could not see well in the first picture is the 3D effect of the handcut tulips popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Wow, does that ever step up my handmade spring card from nice to niiiiiice! You can see from this angle I also watercolored the tulips underneath. It adds to the depth and is much more attractive than if left blank.
There’s a trick to hand cutting stamped image that look seamless and not choppy. The trick is to not make short cuts but to turn your cardstock as your cutting. I just added a new exclusive video to the Stamping Playground this evening demonstrating how.
The Stamping Playground is a new community site I started that is designed for those who love this stuff and just can’t get enough of my style of cardmaking! I keep the inspiration coming with an exclusive new video tutorial every week and invite you to play too with a playground activity (challenge) and another exclusive project to inspire you! And best of all, it’s not a complicated new site to learn to navigate, it’s where you are already – on Facebook!
A new video added every week, a new project challenge, a fun and safe place to share your projects (if you like) and extra attention from me as I love hanging out on the Stamping Playground! All this for only $9.95/month! Joining us on the Stamping Playground is risk free. Your membership is month to month, meaning you can leave the Stamping Playground anytime you want.
