Stampin’ Up! Valentine Defined February CD Calendar for January Card Crew Class

Occasions Mini Catalog available Jan. 4 - April 30, 2011 The 2011 Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog was released last week.  Have you seen it yet?  A Kansas customer called to place her ordering stating it is the best mini catalog ever and she loved nearly everything!   I must agree, it is fabulous.

View the 2011 Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog online now!

The Occasions Mini Catalog has so much more than Valentine's Day stamp sets and accessories, such as Designer Series Paper and rub-ons, but with Valentine's Day approaching, I am using one of the stamp sets, Valentine Defined,  in my January Card Crew class.

Don't you just love the sweet, little hearts at the top of each stem?  I particularly like my February calendar because it includes hearts for Valentine's Day but isn't over-the-top for those taking my class without a Valentine.

Valentine Defined is available only for a short period of time!  Order the Valentine Defined stamp set now on my website for online ordering of Stampin' Up! products any time day or night – even in your pajamas!

The pretty stamp used to stamp my card is from the Stampin' Up! Pocket Silhouettes stamp set.  It is stamped on a Very Vanilla die-cut card stock oval made from the Sizzix Ovals Originals Die and the Sizzix Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.

The stamped Very Vanilla oval is layered on a Always Artichoke die-cut card stock oval also made from the Sizzix Ovals Originals Die.

The Elegant Eggplant card stock was embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper Sizzix Embossing Folder in the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.  I also used my Oval Sizzix Embossing Folder Chipboard Template to emboss everywhere on the card stock except in the center.  Leaving the center are un-embossed allows me to add layers quickly.

My Oval Sizzix Embossing Folder Chipboard Template was designed by me to coordinate beautifully with the Sizzix Ovals Originals Die.   As of now, I have seven different Embossing Folder Chipboard Templates and have made them available for purchase here.

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Vogue Stamp Set and Vintage Wallpaper Sizzix Embossing Folder

Are you Sizzix Big Shot fan?  It is one of the best purchases I have ever made.  It allows me to create cards that look fabulous but are fast to make.   The card below is a great example.  The embossing is  what made a pretty card so much prettier.

And, imagine how excited I was to find new Stampin' Up! Sizzix dies in the Stampin' Up! 2011 Occasions Mini Catalog!  Naturally, on my first order were the two new circle dies:  3" Circle Originals Die and 3-1/2" Circle Originals Die.

I used my new 3" Circle Originals Die when creating this card with the Stampin' Up! Vintage Vogue stamp set and Stampin' Up! exclusive Vintage Wallpaper Sizzix Embossing Folder.

Vintage_Vogue

I was especially excited to see the new circle dies in the Occasions Mini Catalog because my husband asked when I was going to add circle Sizzix Embossing Folder Chipboard Templates to my collection.   I love when my chipboard templates coordinate with the Sizzix Dies.  When they coordinate, layering is so easy.  While we enjoy paper crafting, easy makes it even more enjoyable!

My Sizzix Embossing Folder Chipboard Templates allow you to emboss everywhere but . . .  with the embossing folders.   Here is a video demonstrating my new circle chipboard template.

The Sizzix Stampin' Up! exclusive Top Note Bigz die-cut is a beautiful showcase for the gorgeous evergreen trees.

Sherry's card stock colors are Crumb Cake, Night of Navy and Shimmery White.  The Shimmery White card stock shimmers like sunshine on freshly fallen snow.

Her touches to take it from pretty to beautiful are the Clear Rhinestone Brad at the top of one of the largest evergreen tree and the Whisper White Grosgrain Ribbon.

Even though the Stampin' Up! Scenic Season stamp set includes Christmas greetings, the evergreen trees could be used for other seasons too.  You could easily make a great masculine birthday card.

Customer Christmas Creation: Angelic Christmas Card by Poppy Boyd

A beautiful card from a Christmas past.  I found the Angelic stamp set in the 2004-2005 Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog.

This card is a great example for those who tell me they have a bunch of stamp sets and other goodies they have not used in a long time.  My answer is always, "It is waiting for you.  And, the good news is, it does not spoil!".

Poppy_Boyd

This beautiful Christmas card was made by Poppy Boyd.  She embossed the angel image with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder and layered the white card stock with mulberry paper SU carried years ago.  Looking at Poppy's elegant card wouldn't make you think so, but it was easy to make.  A lot of people will be thrilled to receive her beautiful Christmas greeting.

Chris_Chavez

Chris punched out her Merry Christmas greeting with the 1–3/4" x 7/8" Oval Punch and layered it with the Scallop Oval Punch.  Nice touch with the oval layer in the center of the card.

A big inky thanks to Chris for sharing her Christmas card creation!

Stampin’ Up! A Cardinal Christmas Card Customer Creation

During my annual Christmas card making day (a free day I set aside for my customers to come and get started stamping their Christmas cards), Jeannie Rhodes stamped this pretty Christmas card with A Cardinal Christmas stamp set.

Jeannie_Rhodes

Jeannie stamped the cardinal from A Cardinal Christmas stamp set with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink on the now retired Creamy Caramel card stock.  She colored in her cardinal with the Stampin' Pastels.  So soft and pretty.

Doesn't the cardinal stamp look even more regal on the Sizzix Top Note die-cut?    With the prettiness of the Top Note die-cut, the card did not need any more layers.  It took a simple card to simply beautiful!

Jeannie's card base is Chocolate Chip card stock.  If you wanted to make Jeannie's Christmas card but do not have any Creamy Caramel card stock, Crumb Cake card stock would make for a good substitution.

An inky hug to Jeannie for sharing her beautiful card!

A Customer Request to Make a Christmas Card Less Expensive: Three Variations of Gifts of Christmas Card

Do you remember this card from my Christmas in July?

Rich_Razzleberry_Gifts_of_Christmas

I did an easier version for those who do not like tying bows.  Bow tying video tutorial.

Layers

Although my customer really liked the card, she was hoping to keep the cost to make her Christmas cards, including the stamp set, to $50 for 40 cards.

So, I came up with a less expensive version for her using the Whisper White Note Cards with Envelopes (20 for only $5.95).

No_sponging

Simple, but very pretty.  I then wanted to see what it would look like sponged around the outside edges with Pink Pirouette.  With it, it looks like a frosted window.  In pink.

Pink_Pirouette_sponging

I am having a hard time deciding which I like better, the first one without the edges sponged or the second one with the Pink Pirouette sponged edges.

Then I sponged around the outside edge in Rich Razzleberry.  This is my least favorite of the three.

Rich_Razzleberry_sponging

By using the 3-1/2" x 5" Whisper White Note Cards with Envelopes, we were able to remove several items from her order:  Rich Razzleberry Card Stock, Pink Pirouette Card Stock,  SNAIL Adhesive and Whisper White Medium Envelopes.

Here are the items you would need to duplicate any of the three cards:

                                           Merchandise Total:  $46.25

You can make any one or all three of the variations with the same supplies listed above.
